Work in the street

Sorry to ruin the illusion... this is me installing some of my work on North Sherwood street. I use sayings that embellish something in the public realm, and they turn it into a metaphor.

"To learn something new, take the path you took yesterday"

I adhered this to the path, the work doesn't jump out of the surroundings and this means it can be bypassed my many and discovered by a few. I want to interject something into peoples daily routine that they weren't expecting to encounter.

Older work...

This is my final piece from my foundation degree, I have kind of grown to appreciate it more these days, I felt it was a successful piece. This is an instillation view of the work, I created a black room that permitted no light and used the light box that the work laid upon as the only illumination. The purpose of the room was for the work to be encountered in a very personal way by the viewer, by them alone. The work was created around the idea of closeness with my friends in different environments and the escapism within this scenario. The images depicted this closeness and the work could only be viewed as a whole after it had been read, clarifying the imagery. I adorned delicate papers with this imagery to represent the fragility of friendship and relationships and the lightbox was a mechanism to show how easily the paper could be torn. The images almost became translucent; I used stitch to represent the bond I felt within the friendships I talk about.

Amazing paper skills...

Peter Callesen created these paper works with only an A4 pieces of paper, a craft knife and glue. His subject matter ranges from the fairytale scenario to the macabre, creating a 3d relief from a cut out. The impression left in the paper enchants the viewer further...

Empty Stage

This was my piece for an group exhibition I was part of a while ago called 'Empty Stage'. My work was called 'motif', I created this decorative pattern incorporating a rose inspired by tattoo imagery. I embellished the doorframes with the rose motif; the aim of the piece was to un-noticed by most and discovered by only a few...

On the train i seen...

Sun Dogs! I know that sounds like something very strange to get excited about but I had been reading The Object Stares Back by James Elkins the day before and it mentioned the phenomena. They werent the most visible ones to ever exist but it felt good to learn and see something new.
